Lower weights result in reduced drive resistance values, for instance acceleration resistance, line resistance or roll resistance in rail vehicles, and consequently in a lower energy requirement.
The reduced use of materials when using lightweight construction also results in significantly improved resource efficiency. As such, lightweight construction represents a key technology for the energy and resource-efficient mobility of the future.
